What Happens At My Consultation?

A full and comprehensive consultation is the ONLY way to know if LASIK will be right for you, but some folks hesitate to take this offer because they just don’t know what to expect, or fear a sales pitch.

Here’s what to expect from a LASIK Consultation at Eye Clinic of Austin.

Step 1 – Your Peace of Mind

Almost every LASIK patient has concerns and questions about the procedure. Honestly, we’d be worried if a patient didn’t want to know everything about their surgery. Our first step in any consultation is to find out exactly what you are concerned about and then answer any and every question you have. Given the extremely high technological precision of LASIK, the only real variable is the patient’s confidence and comfort in having the procedure. Therefore, we take special care to ensure you fully understand what happens during the procedure and what LASIK can do for you.

Step 2 – The Exam

This step begins by meeting one of our skilled technicians. We will do a brief screening that includes a review of your medical history, a complete corneal map and measure your corneal thickness. These exam results are given to our surgeons so they can determine if you are suited for LASIK.

Step 3 – Reviewing Exam Results

This is when you’ll find out if you’re a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Henderson or Dr. Falknor will explain the exam results and let you know if you’re a good candidate for LASIK or if another type of technology is more suitable. And that’s it. You’re done. The entire purpose of the consultation is to determine IF you’re a good candidate.
