Best Doctors in America®, annually since 1997
Thomas Henderson, M.D. was selected as a 2009 Best Doctors in America® Honoree. Dr. Henderson is honored among the top 5% of doctors in the country. The Best Doctors in America is a compiled and maintained list held by Best Doctors, Inc. The list includes more than 30,000 doctors in more than 40 medical specialities. Texas currently has 3,224 Best Doctors and ranks 3rd in the United States for the total Best Doctors per state.
Best Doctors, Inc. creates the list from an exhaustive peer-review survey of thousands of doctors that determines all the doctors that are included in the database. The poll consists of one basic simple question: "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, whom would you choose?"
The Best Doctors in America database is the pre-eminent listing of its kind. It has been featured on national television shows including 60 Minutes, The Today Show, and CNN Headline News as well as in major print media including USA Today, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. The database has also received recognition in scores of major metropolitan magazines such as Austin Monthly, as well as in major media outlets in Canada, Europe and Asia. Only those doctors who earn the consensus support of their peers are included. For this reason, inclusion in the Best Doctors in America database is considered a remarkable honor.

Texas Super Doctor, 2004, 2008, 2009
Featured in the December 2009 Texas Monthly Magazine: Thomas Henderson, M.D. was selected as a 2009 Texas Super Doctor. Being named a Super Doctor is a great honor which only five percent of Texas doctors receive each year. The selection process includes peer nominations from Texas doctors based on who they would trust to provide their own medical care. Then independent research on candidates is done to evaluate the candidates based on honors and awards, professional activity, experience, pro bono and community service, and other outstanding achievement. Each nominee is then reviewed by a blue ribbon panel. The final selection is determined by total points awarded from the peer nominations, candidate research and the blue ribbon panel review.
